atonement
Current mood:calm
I'm not someone's concubine
the lay on the side,
the descrete friend with benefits.
I choose to stand in the sun, tall and warm.
I choose to leave the cold shadows past.
Reflection or not, its me having the final say.
Don't tell me I'm safe, I'm too innocent.
Don't tell me I'm the one you think of
in those quiet hours alone.
I'm not the meek woman you take me for,
strength trickles from my pores
and covers me in glass.
So here is where I draw the X,
where I sever the lifeline.
I'll be sure to leave some paper & pencil.
The journey's been long & taxing,
my soul's been dripped dry.
Turning away,
I've got one last thing to tell you.
Good luck on the long journey you have ahead,
the journey to atonement.
